2024 in review: Pushing the boundaries of payment

2024 was punctuated by significant advancements and events for Payplug, allowing us to expand the capabilities of our solution. We have optimised it in depth to deliver ever smoother and more secure payment experiences for our merchants and their customers.

Let’s look back on this extraordinary year, marked in particular by the launch of the first online ticketing system for the Olympic and Paralympic Games! Throughout this article, we’ll also give you a sneak preview of what’s coming in 2025 🌟

An enhanced ecosystem for smoother payments

Our mission is to enable merchants to deploy payments rapidly, regardless of their business ecosystem, and to personalise the customer experience according to the specificities of their market.

This year, we rolled out several innovations:

  • Shopify Hosted Fields: a payment form directly integrated into 0Shopify checkout, enabling faster purchases.
  • Apple Pay on the cart and checkout pages, available on PrestaShop, WooCommerce, and Magento 2—a must-have for boosting conversions on mobile.
  • A version of the Magento module compatible with Hyvä, a theme revolutionising how front-end interfaces are created on Magento 2.
  • A module version compatible with WooCommerce blocks, offering intuitive, modular designs right up to the payment stage.

🌟 In 2025, we will launch a new payment module compatible with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, an e-commerce platform integrated into Salesforce CRM, designed to accelerate your sales across all channels.

In-store, we’ve taken a significant step forward by strengthening our integration with NEPTING. This centralised payment solution places omnichannel at its core, helping merchants deliver seamless customer experiences while streamlining their internal processes.

Superior payment performance

In 2024, we continued our pursuit of excellence in payment performance through:

  • Migrating our flows to 3DS V2.2—a significant leap forward that boosted our merchants' frictionless rates by 18% on Visa cards (Payplug data, 2024), driving higher conversions.
  • Launching Network Tokens and Updat’R by CB to simplify subscriptions and one-click purchases while enhancing payment performance and security.
  • Numerous optimisations to improve our acceptance rates across all payment schemes, issuers, and contexts.

The result? Safer, smoother payment journeys and unmatched performance in the French market, powered by our affiliation with Groupe BPCE (the leading issuer of Visa cards in continental Europe) and our direct connection to the Cartes Bancaires (CB) scheme.

Use case: Allopneus

Since we updated our authentication mechanism to apply 3DS V2.2 certification on Visa cards, Allopneus has seen a 3.79-point increase in frictionless rates for payments under €250 across all schemes.

An ever-improving merchant experience

Since Payplug’s inception, we have prioritised providing merchants with cutting-edge tools and high-quality support to help them manage their payments effectively and maximise the potential of our solution.

This past year, we focused on improving the user experience with:

  • A new multi-account interface to simplify the daily operations of complex organisations;
  • Enhanced financial and dispute reports, giving enterprise merchants greater visibility to make informed decisions;
  • A large-scale system to ensure the success of major events, such as ticket sales for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games! A dedicated task force of ten experts was established to ensure smooth ticketing operations and prevent fraud.

A unified, cutting-edge platform

The most significant advancements often happen behind the scenes.

Over two years ago, Payplug and Dalenys joined forces to become THE leading French fintech in the European payments market. 

Since early 2024, our teams have been working to build a unified solution combining the best features of our two platforms, each with a decade of expertise—a monumental project that opens limitless opportunities for our merchants!

🌟 Once completed, this project will allow us to offer merchants a state-of-the-art API with advanced authentication systems, sophisticated payment management options, and expanded access to tools previously reserved for the largest e-commerce sites. Our key account merchants will also gain access to our comprehensive range of payment methods.

In 2025, this ambitious vision will become a reality!
